2018 seems to be moving at a fast pace, 5 days of the year are nearly gone. I thought of sharing a short travel story with you all.
As per the National Trust, which works to preserve and protect historic places and spaces said last year that the Giant’s Causeway in Antrim, Northern Ireland was its most popular site.
I had read about the Giant’s Causeway long back and had always wanted to see this place. In August 2015, I along with my friend, travelled to Belfast, who was still wondering what the fuss was all about to see some hexagonal column of rocks.
We planned a day trip from Belfast and drove on the scenic coastal route up North. It was a magical drive and scenery along the way is just breathtaking.
Once you reach the ticket office and visitor centre, there is an option to take the bus or hike towards the main attraction.
The first view of the rocks with waves from the ocean hitting them strikes as how these shapes were created, why are they all hexagonal in shapes and how they are standing linked to each other like a jigsaw puzzle. You stare at these and only stand amazed and feel humbled at nature’s creation.
Even among the huge crowd of people, you feel serene stepping on each of the stones and staring at the vast ocean in front of you.
It is a must visit if you ever happen to be in Northern Ireland. It is nature truly at its best.
Some of the structures in the area, having been subject to several million years of weathering resemble objects, such as the Organ.
Other attractions close by are the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge across the Atlantic Ocean, one of Northern Ireland’s best known tourist attractions, which connects the mainland to the Carrick-a-Rede Island and the Dunluce Castle, a Medieval Irish Castle on the Antrim Coast
Enjoy some the photos I took, the day was cloudy but the view is everlasting in our memories. Yes, my friend was mesmerised.
